2015 Conference Speakers / Bios
Mrs. Fraser is a Registered Nurse, a Certified Case Manager, Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse and Board Certified in Case Management with the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She holds a Masters’ Degree in Nursing and also a Masters’ Degree in Health Care Administration. Mrs. Fraser has been a nurse for 35 years beginning with Hospital nursing which included Emergency Room, Labor & Delivery and as a Chief Nursing Officer. She became a Case Manager 22 years ago, creating the first Case Management Department for a large National Healthcare System.
Mrs. Fraser is the current Case Management Society of America’s National Board of Director’s President through 2016. She is also on the Role Delineation and Expert Panel Committees of the American Nurses Association Certification Council for Case Management. Over the past 22 years she has served four previous Chapter Presidency terms in Houston and a past Houston/Gulf Coast CMSA Case Manager of the Year. Mrs. Fraser also serves on the Board of Directors of NTOCC (National Transitions of Care Coalition), is on the steering committee of the National COPD Foundation and serves on the National Certification Roundtable Committee. Mrs. Fraser is the author of the revision of CMSA’s Case Management Adherence Guidelines for COPD and she speaks nationally on Medication Adherence and Reconciliation.
Darolyn O’Donnell, MS, CTRS is the Recreation Therapy Coordinator and interim program manager at the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center in Phoenix, AZ. She received her bachelor degree from Arizona State University and completed her Masters Degree in Business Leadership at Grand Canyon University. As a recreation therapist, she recognizes that involvement in recreational activities is an essential element of human existence and she thoroughly enjoys her role of providing community based recreational, exercise and wellness programs to people with Parkinson disease.
Nancy Bivins received her master of social work degree from Arizona State University. Her career choice has been to serve seniors and/or the disabled. Six years ago she joined the community outreach team at the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center. This position has allowed her the opportunity to interface with people living with Parkinson’s Disease and their families, and to provide encouragement, support, and information as they face the challenge of living well with Parkinson’s disease.
Robin Orchard attended nursing school in Ohio, and began working in the coronary care unit. She moved to the valley in 1988. After 10 years as a registered nurse in hospitals in the Phoenix area, Ms. Orchard entered into the workers’ compensation case management arena.
In 2001, she started Orchard Medical Consulting with the goal of ensuring safe return to work for injured employees, while focusing on the employers’ bottom line. Ms. Orchard promotes the importance of appropriate medical care, and maintains that healthy employees are productive employees. Orchard Medical Consulting, who counts Discount Tire, QuikTrip, U-Haul, and PetSmart among its clients, has over 150 nurses across the U.S.
Community service is very important to Ms. Orchard; she is a strong supporter of Kids’ Chance of Arizona, (YEA) Young Entrepreneurs Association, Gabriel’s Angels and Valley Youth Theater. Ms. Orchard is Past President of the Phoenix Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. She has been named the SBA (Small Business Administration) Woman in Business Champion of the Year. Her company has been named Best Places to Work every year since 2008.
Jim Hammond has worked in the Arizona healthcare industry for 30 years. He has experience with payors and providers of all types, including medical management companies, Medicaid health plans, commercial health plans, physicians, IPA’s, hospitals and integrated delivery systems. Jim currently operates his own consulting firm, Professional Healthcare Solutions. PHS offers consulting services in the fields of managed care contracting, network development, strategic planning and accountable care. He has extensive knowledge of the Affordable Care Act.
Jim has been an active member of Arizona Healthcare Financial Management Association for many years. He served on the board for six years and as President in 2006-2007. He currently serves on the past-presidents council. In 2014, Jim purchased the Arizona Managed Care Newsletter (AMCN) from the family of the founder, Jim Hertel. The AMCN has now been re-launched as The Hertel Report and includes a robust website, monthly newsletter and weekly news listing delivered by email to leaders and decision-makers in the Arizona healthcare industry. He is a frequent speaker on managed care topics, as well as moderating the Hertel Report (formerly Arizona Managed Care Newsletter) State-of-the-State meetings, which are attended by leaders of the Arizona healthcare industry.
After graduating from Florida State University, Steve has worked within the healthcare insurance industry for more than 30 years both for Insurance companies and brokerage firms in a capacity that supported the sales and service of group benefits programs involving all lines of life and health coverage. His specialties include: Multi-State and International Employee Benefits, Self-Funding of Employee Benefits, Consumer Driven Health Plan Designs, and Group Health and Productivity Wellness Programs. Steve has spoken on these subjects and most recently, the effect of Health Care Reform Laws at the annual conferences for the Arizona Society of CPA’s, Arizona’s Healthcare Finance Managers Association, Mutual Of Omaha Bank, and other professional organizations.
Also, as a frequent instructor for Lorman Seminars in Arizona and at annual conferences for the AZ Society of CPA’s, Healthcare Finance Managers and the Association of Legal Administrators since 2009, Steve brings a unique understanding and ability to illuminate healthcare subject matter. His experience inside the healthcare insurance industry provides him with knowledge on provider contracting, risk pool management, claims data analysis, and consumer behavior as it relates to medical care services and wellness. Steve hosted a weekly live radio show on MoneyRadio1510 called OnAirHealthcare from 2011-2013. His passion for Healthcare is only surpassed by his love for his two daughters and enthusiasm for golf.
Lisa Hodge, MT-BC is a board-certified music therapist who graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Music Therapy in 2011 and also holds a certification as a Hospice & Palliative Care Music Therapist. In addition to providing music therapy services for individuals and families in the fields of hospice, developmental disabilities, and geriatrics, Lisa is the Community Programs Coordinator for Higher Octave Healing. She has been providing music therapy in the Phoenix Metropolitan area for the past 3 years and enjoys providing clinical supervision for music therapy interns and students.
Ettie Lande’s healthcare experience as both a clinician and expert in care coordination spans nearly 38 years. With a master in Nursing, Ettie joined Banner Health Arizona in 1980 and most recently was the educator for the system-wide department of case management and Director of Case Management at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center, Banner Desert Medical Center and Cardon Children’s Medical Center. This year Ettie joined the Health Services Advisory Group, the Quality Improvement Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO) for Arizona. As the Associate Director of Care Transitions, Ettie assists the Program Director in overseeing, coordinating and implementing a broad range of collaborative and community activities among private and public entities. Ettie is an active member of the Arizona Chapter of ACMA, serving as the Chair of the Education Committee and a CMSA member. She lives in Scottsdale with her husband Lloyd and together, they have 5 children and 2 grandchildren.
